External Corrosion

Direct Assessment Program

What is

External Corrosion Direct Assessment (ECDA)?

External corrosion direct assessment (ECDA) improves the robustness of buried pipelines by identifying coating and corrosion related defects proactively without excavation.

Our External Corrosion Direct Assessment Program

For more information on our External Corrosion Direct Assessment Program:

The multifaced ECDA program at ACiD Integrity includes using CIS,  Pipe Current Mapping, DCVG, ACVG, Current Attenuation, and other over-the-line techniques to measure the magnitude of cathodic protection and find coating flaws on coated pipelines. Other services include risk ranking of over-the-line survey results to evaluate and determine the location of defects in the corrosion protection system which may have a high risk for external corrosion.

The information from the ECDA program is combined and used in risk modelling to assess the hazard of external corrosion on a pipeline.

This information can be proactively used for future remedial excavation and repair before a release occurs.
